About Rent a Machine

Rent a Machine connects South African plant-hire companies with the people and businesses who need to hire construction machinery, from excavators and TLBs to bulldozers, without the usual back-and-forth of phone calls and word-of-mouth referrals.

How verification works

Trust matters more here than on most marketplaces: real, expensive equipment changes hands between people who've never met. So we build trust into the platform itself:

• Companies can be verified by our team. A "Verified" badge then appears on their listings once we've confirmed they're a real, operating business.
• Renters confirm their email address before they can send an inquiry, and can optionally upload an ID for a higher trust badge, visible to companies when they inquire. Uploading an ID is never required; it's an upgrade you can choose, and the document itself is deleted as soon as our team has reviewed it. We only keep a record that it was checked, not the document itself.

What we're not

Rent a Machine is a marketplace, not the hiring company itself. The actual hire agreement, deposit, delivery, and equipment condition are between the renter and the plant-hire company directly. We help you find and contact each other, verify who you're dealing with, and track availability.
